You would have to slam the tailgate shut for the latch to engage. I was tired of greasing the old block's internal mechanism, but it still wouldn't engage without having to slam the tailgate shut. I finally made up my mind and bought a complete lock from Amazon. Installation took about 20 minutes and what's the difference. I should have replaced it sooner. Fast delivery from supplier.
