WD15 may be superior in some cases. But I bought it and a DELL Inspiron 15 7579. I'm totally disappointed when I tried to use them together on my desk. The WD15 does not clearly state the requirements for USB-C. USB-C in this computer is very limited. Does not work with DELL WD15 Dock (USB-C). In fact, it works partially. The on/off button doesn't work at all. You cannot load WD15 drivers because the laptop does not recognize that the device is connected via USB-C. I had to manually download the drivers for the wired LAN network adapter to be able to use the wired LAN in my home (the Dell app didn't detect or download them when I used their website to update all the drivers). Dell is not aware of this incompatibility. When I first asked for help they told me the docking station was defective and I had to send it back. I did exactly that, the replacement had the same issues. Extra calls/additional tech support staff trying to help. After spending 2.5 hours a day trying to give a Dell employee access to the computer, he finally gave in and asked for extended technical support. He was told that this Inspiron and the WD15 dock were not compatible by design. This was the first time I got a clear answer on Dell product incompatibility. If I had been told that on the first call, I would not have returned the WD15, I would have sent the notebook back and bought a compatible one. Now I've spent time and money installing and configuring the software, so it's going to be difficult to replace the laptop. walked away from the problem and told me they wouldn't do anything and that it was my problem. They say that the root of the problem lies in the design of the Inspiron BIOS. Not an area I would check when deciding to buy a product. Needless to say, I am very disappointed with the support from DELL, both from the descriptions that support the purchase of products and the subsequent technical support. The BIOS of this Inspiron laptop. Since this feature is not available in the Inspiron BIOS, I have been told that the docking station cannot be used to its full capacity.
