I have a home build cnc router cabinet. There's a compartment for a computer, but there's little airflow inside. I noticed the other day that the temperature inside the case was quite high and may have contributed to the recent hard drive failure. I wanted to add a fan to circulate the air, but since the computer goes to sleep and doesn't generate much heat when not in use, I didn't want something running all the time. With this jig and a 12V fan, I was able to set it up so that the fan only runs when the temperature in the cabinet is above a certain level. So far it seems to be working great. I set it to turn on at 32Β°C and turn off at 30Β°C and every time I noticed the fan was running it was in that range. Setup was easy. I already had a 12V power supply in the cabinet, so all I had to do was connect the power, align the K0 and K1 terminals with the positive 12V wire to the fan, and lower the sensor into the cabinet. As far as I remember, the default settings were what I needed, with the possible exception of changing the temperature range. I opted for a suitcase and it cost 60 cents extra. I could laser cut my own, but that would probably cost me 60 cents in material and certainly more in time. The only complaint about the case is that it doesn't have holes to attach it to unless you want to use the same holes used to hold the case together. No big deal - the double-sided foam tape did the trick. Definitely worth less than $5 each.
