We had to send it back.

I actually bought this book for a friend of mine who has been sewing for many years. Unfortunately, we found that most of the advice was empty. This is NOT a technique/improvement on your sewing book. There were very few illustrated examples - even then most of them were insignificant or useless. If you are intermediate sewing (like my friend) or better, I do not recommend this book. We have to pay tribute, there were many interesting organizational and design suggestions. But it almost felt like the editors were pulling tips out of a huge bucket instead of weeding out the really good ones. Worse, they don't show you how to make them. Since these tips come from their website, it's better to explore the web on your own and take the time to find out what's useful for your own project. As a beginner I was very disappointed with this book. There are definitely better ones out there, like Diana Rupp's Sewing Everything Workshop: A Complete Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners with 25 Amazing Original Designs, Using 10 Patterns. Deepika and PatternReview.com: Please return to the edit table. and shorten your tips and also show more step-by-step examples. This book is a bit hasty.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
