Review on BOSTITCH RN46 πŸ”¨ Roofing Nailer with 1/4-Inch Capability by Omar Svagera

Useful even for everyday use

I know some people don't think it's worth betting on one of these for just a roof, but I love that you can get a nozzle that you can use this on vinyl siding. Normally, when my family does the roof, we can easily get more workers (uncles and grandparents are not cousins because they don't go on the roof -.-) Unfortunately, this time there were usually only two of us, which made me decide to give me this one to get a nailer. I will say that you can take down shingles really quickly with this nailer, which was important as we were pressed for time as the wintry rainy season was approaching. Okay, let's get to the product itself. This thing is heavy and very easy to use. It's a bit annoying the first few times, but you get used to it quickly (recoil and how to compensate for it). If you drive really fast you definitely need something better than a small Lowes air compressor, but my compressor was easy to carry on the roof, which was nice (it didn't have a long hose). It worked well though for a one man job as the tiling gives the air compressor time to catch up. It jammed a little, and often it was just the way you used it. It tends to jam if you release the pressure, but a screwdriver and hammer will do the trick. I usually do a few turns before it binds. It has a neat feature: you can hold the trigger and pull the nail gun and it will fire. Not the safest thing, but it's a bit quicker than pulling the trigger every time. The tip seems prone to rusting, so I'll be cleaning and oiling or greasing it while it waits for my next roof.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
