I never got a good cup of water out of it. Water quality in the US varies, but in my area the water is particularly tasty and low in minerals, so crusting should be limited. And it was in all the other teapots I've used here. This started to form a white coating from the first pot I used after rinsing with a plain faucet. I then followed the manufacturer's recommendations for descaling and removed the deposits with a microfiber cloth. And none of that helped. As far as I can tell, there were defects on the surface of the metal heating surface (it was clear that water boiled there first, and deposits were visible after a minute or two). I don't know if I've had a bad kettle but from other reviews I assume there is a quality checklist that is overlooked for the production part. Because the rest of the materials seem great. The glass pan is strong, heats up quickly, all moving parts move correctly. It's a shame because it's a great model. In the end I settled on a stainless steel construction so there were no "seams" other than a steam safety valve.
