I spent about $100 on my FPL bill in October, then used more appliances and cooked on Thanksgiving in November. When this device worked for a month and a half, my checking account was $77. So it works. But as others have said, it depends on the size of your home (need more appliances) and if there are any actual electrical issues causing excessive consumption.
