Review on 🐠 White biOrb Flow 15 Aquarium with LED - 4 Gallon by Tina Walker

BiOrb Flow 30 liter

I bought this tank at a discount from Warehouse Sales (used like new, in damaged packaging) and am basing this review on that price. I would deduct a star for the normal new price. I've uploaded a few photos because there is so little information on what you actually get in the BiOrb set; In most photos they are decorated with many expensive ornaments. You get a 30 liter (7.93 gallon) black and clear tank with an air hose about four feet long that attaches to the bottom of the tank from the outside. The air hose exits through a slot in the base. On the inside of the tank, an air hose is connected to an air stone. In the bottom of the tank is a round plate that screws onto a round cartridge of clear filter media. The cartridge is refillable and/or disposable and has an additional twist lock at the top for the cap and dip tube which are not disposable. The matching black cap features two very bright white LEDs with a 4 foot cord, switch and patented connector at the end that connects to the switched on transformer. The lid has a small indentation into which the cable of the immersion heater can be plugged, but nothing more. The included air pump has a similar cord and connector, but no switch. A non-return valve is installed in the air hose. The kit includes two bags of ceramic fill that fill the bottom of the tank to a depth of 1-1/2 to 2 inches. I was disappointed when I unpacked this set. The back is not as consistent in size, shape, texture, or color as the back shown in the promotional photos. It appears to be coarsely ground waste or a by-product, nothing like the ceramic material made specifically for aquariums that you may have seen elsewhere. It has a rough, sharp texture that you don't want your fish to come in contact with, and it doesn't have the uniform look you would expect from a material called "ceramic". Most parts are one inch or larger in diameter and are not designed for use with a gravel cleaner. The filter cartridge has no guard or grid around it, so the substrate has to pull out a bit every time you change or clean it. small. This can become a serious design flaw if you don't plan your decorating scheme with this in mind. The air pump and stone seem to get the filter working quickly, but I have yet to add the fish. Bubbles on the surface of the filter directly under the light will cause intense flicker, which some fish will not like. If you are looking for an aquarium to decorate with, this could be the aquarium for you. BiOrb accessories are beautiful but can be very expensive in large sizes and quantities. If you want to create a great display with a small fish or two, this will work. On the other hand, a beginner aquarist who needs four or five fish probably won't be satisfied with a gravel filter. This filter is more likely to work in spherical BiOrbs where debris falls closer to it. This tank must be vacuumed regularly outside the filter.

Pros
  • High test results for hold and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
