Review on Dorman 923-005 Driver Side Tail Light Circuit Board: Ideal Replacement for Chevrolet Models by Julio Fernandez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Cheap solution that works (most of the time)

I received this part to repair a circuit board that was corroded and shorted out due to an imperfect rear Lantern was assembled lets moisture through. It worked in the end, and it's a cheap fix if you don't need the entire $70 build, but it was very difficult to get it back in place. First, for some reason, the bulbs didn't want to be put in. These were new or carefully used bulbs that snapped easily into the original part, but this new replacement felt like it had been mishandled or something. and the pears didn't fit at all. There are no visual differences between the original and replacement boards, but I still had to push the bulbs in with so much force that I was sure they would break at any moment. matched the latches perfectly and could only latch 3 out of 4 tabs. I kept going like this until the 4th tab finally ripped off the taillight assembly, forcing me to use duct tape to hold the circuit board in place. Since the original failed due to an imperfect seal that led to corrosion, I felt it was important to ensure that the internal gasket on the PCB was actually fully depressed. After several tests during and after the process, all 4 lamps are working at full power, so this is a solution, but not ideal.

Pros
  • Needs repair - taillight not working without replacing melted circuit board
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
