Traditional becomes haute couture

It's fall in Vermont and it's knitting season, so Grandma was on top of the world when she read Nicky Epstein's book Knitting on Top of the World: A Global Guide to Traditions, Techniques and Design found her front door recently. Filled with both unique traditional knitting patterns from around the world and modern fashionable interpretations of these Nike heritage patterns (over 40 new patterns!). The book is a visual delight. quite advanced, and while I certainly don't expect everyone to like them, the sheer variety means everyone should find more than a few things to add to their must-knit list. I already have a sweater in the works (can't tell you which one as it's a Christmas present for someone who reads most of my reviews) and I'm waiting for the yarn for the special mittens. Very clear instructions easy to follow. Additionally, experienced knitters will find that some of these patterns are very easy to adapt to their own unique projects. There is a very short patch page on the publisher's website. Oma's $0.02 are great take on traditional patterns! Highly recommended
