Review on πŸ“Έ CN-126 LED Video Light by Neewer for Camera or Digital Video Camcorder by Jason Hill

The build quality is what you would expect from a budget flashlight. It's cheaply built and maybe not durable, but the price is right and you get what you pay for, so I'm not scolding it. The Panasonic battery adapter broke almost immediately. Too bad, because I have a lot of Panasonic batteries from old camcorders. The light is very bright and generally white enough when the deflector is on. As you can see it has strong peaks in the blues but otherwise has a reasonable curve. Compared to 5000k daylight fluorescent lighting, this color balance is significantly cheaper for video. Be sure to set your camera's white balance correctly for it to work well. The dimmer works well so you can use it for accent lighting at less than full power. I'm considering getting a second one for this purpose. Since it's so bright at full power I think if I were lighting an interview or other static shot I would probably use two offsets about 45 degrees apart running at about 3/4 power.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • New competition has arrived
