I don't know if I should give this product or the magnetic base I bought for it a star. All of these types of dial gauges have a 3/8" (9.6mm) shank and all magnetic bases have an 8mm mounting ring. Found this after purchasing. I would have thought something so common would have a universal mounting method. Also, the dial looks as is, with a hand pointing at about 10:00 o'clock Wouldn't it make sense to point the needle straight up when it's fully extended? The base I bought served a lot appreciated so I would like to keep them but as there is no way to attach this tool to the base I will be sending them back Edit: I changed the rating of this indicator from one star to 4 stars, TURLEN's answer showed me that American spoons typically have a 3/8" shank while European bases use an 8mm bore. I still think this practice is ridiculous and that some sort of standardization befo should be allowed. But the dial gauge feels well built and runs smoothly. Too bad I may still have to return it for the turn signal and socket combo as I couldn't find a socket with a 3/8" mounting hole on the Revain.
