This machine is definitely worth the price. I bought this after watching Ooni Crafts videos on YouTube. If you really want to know how to use a machine properly, you should listen to her! Some highlights: 1) DO NOT use the cheap filament that comes with the machine. Take everything off the spool and invest in good thread, like Guterman. The fluff from cheap threads will clog the bobbin and jam it; 2) If you used a cheap thread, take a cotton swab, take it out and clean it; 3) A hack I learned from another YouTuber is to cut out a small circle slightly larger than the bobbin (just circle it) on regular printer paper and place it in the bobbin case before inserting the bobbin. There is a strong magnet that holds the coil in place but makes it difficult to move. Watch the video to find out which side the thread should be on when installing and using the bobbin (yes, there is a RIGHT way). Most of the problems that other reviewers had could probably be solved by following this advice. I did everything I just listed and now my machine is running great and sewing beautiful stitches. Not sure if this is the right machine for beginners. You need to know what you're doing to troubleshoot. But for someone with a basic knowledge of how to use the machine, it couldn't be better. My regular machine is in storage and I needed one to make masks and it does the job perfectly! Just make sure you do your research and learn how to use it properly.
