Review on SKS-Germany X-Blade Fender: Ultimate Protection and Style for Your Ride by Carlos Block

Revainrating 5 out of 5

No more drifts! No more wet asses!

I'm cycling a lot more than I used to because of the pandemic. I took the SKS rear wing because I didn't want to miss a ride just because the roads might be wet or rain a bit. Installation takes about 90 seconds including customization. The strut attaches to the seatpost with an adjustable fabric strap and cam-lock lever. Fender adjustment is accomplished with two (4mm?) socket head cap screws (common with any pannier repair kit). Both angle and position have a large adjustment range. Once the wing is installed and adjusted, it stays in place. I've driven mine about 500km and it hasn't moved. Once the initial setup is complete, it takes about 2 seconds to uninstall and 5 seconds to install. Operation couldn't be easier. completely dry. As most bikers know, even on wet roads you have wet feet, wet feet and a muddy/wet bottom. This fender has completely protected my back from getting wet and helps keep my bike clean. In combination with the SKS front wing, I now stay dry on wet roads and in puddles. I was skeptical because of the thinness of the wing but it worked flawlessly. I commute about 50% and do 50% fun/exercise on weekends and the extra protection is worth it. Given even the possibility of rain I throw the wing at, it's so light and aerodynamic (for what it is) that it doesn't negatively affect my rides. I would recommend this to anyone looking to add more mileage on their bike. This will help me a lot towards my goal of keeping my road bike running 10 months a year in Wisconsin.
