Bought these recessed lights to match my unsightly rail could upgrade lighting. There is quite a bit of confusion as to whether these flashlights are IC certified or not. IC stands for "insulated contact" or the ability to install devices surrounded by insulation without fear of setting fire to the home. So I went ahead and contacted Globe Electric customer service and they confirmed that this model does indeed have an IC rating when used with LED bulbs. As an added safety feature, there is a built-in switch to ensure the light does not overheat and can be used with or without an insulating box. So yes, these recessed lights are IC certified if you install them with LED bulb. A big plus when installing as a renovation. The lights themselves are great, easy to install, swivel in any direction and the nickel plating makes for a classy look. They are extremely bright when used in combination with a 50W LED bulb. . Installation is pretty easy, but be sure to look for studs behind the drywall where you plan to cut the hole. Pulling a curved hanger through a small hole in the drywall is a great way to see if there are any obstructions. As other reviewers have pointed out, these lights are a bit smaller than standard 4" backboxes, so you'll need a slightly smaller hole saw bit. I highly recommend getting a drill dust bag like this one, Morris Products 13500 Drillers Dust Bowl, to hold all the drywall bits while you cut out the lighting holes. Otherwise you'll end up with drywall dust everywhere. so many recessed lights Great lights, great price and IC value when used with LED bulbs.
