The masks had white elastics, not yellow ones, but the quality of the elastics was good. The elastic band improved the fit of the mask on the face and reduced the gaps around the nose and sides. I wear a mask when I go for a walk in the park because I don't want to pass out, and the respirator valve helps expel the air on exhalation so I can keep the mask on longer (and not cheat by popping the mask on and blowing sideways out of here). I do, however, carry a second paper mask with me, regular medical masks with ruffles you can buy for a dollar, with gaping sides and a loose fit that I can put on as a second mask when I'm close to other people. Putting on the second mask seems to work temporarily as I only speak face to face with others for a few minutes. Then I just wear the second mask and breathe freely as I walk. Costs $65 but doesn't pay more. Happy with the purchase. I didn't smell people smoking while my friend with the paper surgical mask did.
