This canteen really stays cold longer than the thermos I had before. I'm about 18 ounces for my wife and 25 ounces for me. If you add ice, which is only good if your freezer makes long cubes of ice, it can stay cold for as long as advertised: the bigger the bottle, the longer it stays cold. I put ice and cold water in mine at 10am one morning and the ice didn't melt until 6pm the next day. Keep in mind that I drank and refilled water about 5 times during that period. So imagine if I just left it filled and didn't drink, the ice didn't melt for a long time. The only bad thing about it is that it starts to smell and is difficult to clean. I just apply warm soapy water and some bleach, shake and leave, then the smell comes back after 3 days. The smell is not very strong, but not pleasant either.
