We've been using this for 2 months now and now I'm confident considering buying it. I was initially nervous before purchasing because of the mixed reviews and I was unfamiliar with the brand. However, we tried. I was very satisfied, both functionally and aesthetically. The speakers are really powerful, the design is beautiful, everything has a nice weight and smoothness, it doesn't look/feel cheap or plasticky. A few quick things - the power button functionality is a bit unconventional and I'm wondering if this is the reason for the player not turning on feedback? You need to press and hold the power button for a few seconds to boot up the device. The red LED will light up, indicating that it is on. Then you need to press the power button once to start the disk spinning. You can click it again to pause it. To turn off the device, press and hold the power button again for a few seconds until the red light turns off. A little strange, but no big deal. Also, we initially had to fiddle with the arm counterweight a bit until it was properly balanced to avoid skipping. He seems to be very sensitive and we still play with him from time to time. But it's nice to have control over the adjustable arm weight. The setup instructions are a bit vague and lack a description. So take 10 minutes to find out. Some of the other reviewers here give good advice on this.
