The joint is very well made (although it's called "glue joint" here, I think it's just heated with a special tool and the melted ends are joined together). The hinge is about the same size as my original cord loop, allowing the new loop to fit through the mechanism and tensioner with ease. Looks (sorry for the pun) high quality. Yes, it's 2.7mm in diameter, so for people who leave feedback that this doesn't fit, it's a good idea to pre-measure the diameter (although this is the most common size for a cable loop) - if you in a are very close environment.
