I saw the reviews on youtube and bought this and the JBL 4 charger. Overall the charger 4 was just better. drum sounds, then take xb31. If you want pure speaker get a jbl 4 charger. I found the xb31 lasted a very short time even with the lights off and in party mode, especially if you have live sound mode enabled. Also, you need to be directly in front of the speaker to enjoy the full sound. Where it sounds like JBL Pro spread more evenly. Again, this Sony product doesn't feel like Sony at all. It feels cheap compared to other Sony products. The app is also not that intuitive or well thought out for a big electronics brand. In my opinion, the app's interface is very mediocre for a Sony branded product. So for XB31Pros: best IP67 rating, bright lights/strobe lights, live sound equalizer (but seems like it drains the battery faster), in-app equalizer, can connect to BT via the Comcast/ Make Xfinity cable box, about $20-$30 cheaper than charging. 4. Cons: You have to be right in front of the speaker to get the full sound, lights on = battery drains faster, packaging is terrible, the Sony Music Center app needs improvement too. sounds duller. The volume drops when the battery is low, and there's no way to make it louder when it's unplugged. The triangular shape makes it look like a truly portable TV soundbar, which might be a plus for some. More of an indoor speaker than an outdoor speaker. As for jbl, pros: good workmanship, definitely better than xb31, clearer sound, faster BT connection compared to xb31, higher quality packaging, no equalizer but settings can be done in a music app like Spotify's Whatever, USB-C port , be changed to connect with Comcast/Xfinity cable box, looks more suitable for party or outdoor activities.
