Amazing sound + fun lighting

This is my second one as I gave the first one to my son. I connected it to my new laptop for better sound. I tried it today during a power outage when I couldn't hear my Sirius XM boombox. I plugged in an external DVD drive and put in a Bobby Rush CD and was blown away by the great sound. When the power came back on, I tried connecting it to the Sirius radio via Bluetooth, but to no avail; I do not know why. Might have to fiddle a bit to make it work. The only thing that could be improved hereโ€ฆ

I tried Bose - Bluetooth portable speakers

For the money this unit has better sound reproduction from all directions No heavy bass, no tinny highs - better sound from all sides I had a Bose Minilink? Fine, well made, but not the stuff to build enough bass. I also had an XB40 - too much sound - easy to get loud but very difficult to get a balanced sound - just enough bass and enough treble, it's called "Balance". The feature that really makes it stand out is the surround sound and the RGB LEDs - the lights are nice, but you don't realize

  • Nice packaging

Be warned. No charger included and not enough instructions

Terrible instructions for a seemingly versatile device. It took me some time to scour the web before I was able to find a downloadable PDF and print out the well-written 89-page instruction manual. All of this set me back a few days in terms of the possibility of using it effectively. The main downside is that it didn't come with a power adapter/charger. It only came with an 18" USB to micro USB cable! Seriously not long enough to reach from an outlet to the floor. It is recommended to get aโ€ฆ

My vote for my favorite mid-sized speaker of 2018!

Damn, worth every penny pre-order! I love this little guy as I love all my JBLs! It's an epic thing, it literally looks like a mid-range all-in-one speaker! I've always been curious to buy one of the Sony speakers to try out, but the style of last year's models just wasn't to my liking! But when I first saw it in a CES video on YouTube, I noticed it and said it was my first Sony speaker! God am I glad I ordered it, it took first place among my favorite mid-range Bluetooth speakers, but the JBLโ€ฆ

Better water/dust resistance but just a good speaker

I saw the reviews on youtube and bought this and the JBL 4 charger. Overall the charger 4 was just better. drum sounds, then take xb31. If you want pure speaker get a jbl 4 charger. I found the xb31 lasted a very short time even with the lights off and in party mode, especially if you have live sound mode enabled. Also, you need to be directly in front of the speaker to enjoy the full sound. Where it sounds like JBL Pro spread more evenly. Again, this Sony product doesn't feel like Sony at all.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Very expensive

Great stereo functionality, great hardware, terrible software

After looking at a lot of mid-range portables, I bought a pair of XB31s for stereo use. Once synced, they offer clear stereo separation, and the light show feature (if enabled) is enabled as well. I was a bit nervous about the range because the documentation I found online says the speakers must be within a meter of each other to work in stereo, but that's only during initial setup. Once they're synced, you can place them any distance away (within reasonable Bluetooth range, of course) andโ€ฆ
