I have a 2002 Ford Escape XLT with a failed liftgate latch/latch motor. The motor ran occasionally and would not lock or unlock at various times. When trying to find a replacement engine for my 2002, I found the process frustrating to say the least. The new motor for this Escape was not listed as a separate item at parts stores or at my Ford dealer. The Ford dealer sold the complete engine for about $400. I could only find used engines on the Internet, which usually cost between $45 and $60 on Ebay. Aside from cosmetic changes and a new type of connector, the motor was the same as my old motor. I ordered the entire lock assembly for about $20-$25 [I forgot the exact price], removed the motor and installed it on my 2002. [*I had to really improvise the plug until I could get it from a local junkyard ]. It works great and has saved me a ton of money as well as getting me a new motor instead of a used motor off ebay. Hope it works for your application. I can't believe the whole assembly is so cheap when just one part sold as a 2002 special edition costs so much. !
