04-08 F150 Door Lock Motor Dorman

OE Quality. Ease of installation. The only thing I don't like is the "plastic locking tab" that holds the actuator to the door lock assembly, which had to be stretched by prying to keep the actuator from slipping out.

Pros
  • Great Price
Cons
  • Hard to Tell

Almost the worst quality possible

I made the mistake of buying these two Dorman drives. Both had the same problem: they were incorrectly shaped, so the plastic clip doesn't hold the actuator in place. Since then, the first latch no longer works. They will not be replaced by Dorman's junk.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Only available in black

Buyer beware of engines

Installed and fit. Unfortunately, he only worked for about 10 months. It's not so much the cost of buying another $25 part that sucks, it's the hassle of having to re-pull the door panel and fiddle with the annoying installation, i.e. having to fiddle around in a tight door panel.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • No performance

The part does not work out of the box, rigging is required

The part is not bolted. It's held in place by friction and a locking tab. The fit of this piece is not tight. After 10 closing cycles, switch off the drive by removing the locking bar. I pushed a piece of plastic behind the locking tab to prevent the actuator from fully retracting and remaining engaged with the locking shaft. The actuator rotates slightly during use, so the stopper rod does not move at the same speed as the work part.

Pros
  • GOLS certification
Cons
  • Modern

Good product with a small flaw

The product works perfectly. BUT, the bracket used to hold it is not a Ford OE equivalent. The clamp on this Dorman product does not have enough tension to hold/lock the actuator in place. You have to let it stick. I used a small piece of cardboard and placed it between the clamp where the drive should generate some tension. BY THE WAY. I went to several auto parts stores to see if there was a difference but no as they also source their parts from Dorman. This is a manufacturing defect…

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • So far so good

Check before installing.

The one I bought from Revain was DOA. Bought as a warehouse deal (stupid move for auto parts, huh?), someone probably returned it upon realizing it was bad and resold it. Had to buy a double price from Auto Zone to assemble the car. Make sure the drive lever moves freely when you get yours. As another said, the landing is bad. The original drive snaps into the locking mechanism very securely, it just slides along the rails and doesn't want to stay there. I didn't epoxidize it like another user,

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • slightly wrinkled

Works after some modifications on a 2002 Ford Explorer Limited

The first coupler is simple, My girlfriend surprised me with this and when she first bought car parts she didn't know that there are usually different ones Parts left and right of the vehicle and it doesn't say that anywhere on the page. So I had to buy 2 more but it worked fine and now I have 1 spare for each side. strong enough, the actuator fell into the door while driving, leaving my truck door unlocked with a firearm and expensive camping gear inside. I almost went white when I realized…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Pros
  • Long term repair - cyclic test in a real car door confirms the effectiveness of use over many years
Cons
  • Retrofittable

Will work with some modifications for 2002 Ford Explorer Limited

The first handle is easy. I didn't realize there are usually different parts on the left and right of the car and it doesn't say that anywhere on the page.
