I bought these mugs for my husband and I to have some for tea/coffee on the way to work. None of us really like drinking from plastic or metal cups, and my husband doesn't like cups that keep his drink very hot. Before I bought them I even tried on the car and truck cup holders to make sure they fit. The first thing I noticed when I opened the package was that they were cream in color. We don't really care, but if you're looking for white, just know that it's more of a cream or a very light beige. The next thing we both noticed when we first started using them was that the lid had a really strong chemical smell. It was so strong my husband just removed the lid to drink tea. I wasn't impressed but decided to wait and see if the smell went away. Now, after a week or so, it's faded a bit, but it's still enough to make the last sip of coffee kind of chemical and it's really not the best way to finish a cup. I do not like it at all. The next thing we noticed was that cups were struggling to fit in our cup holders. Rather than being 3 inches in diameter as shown in the product photos, it looks more like 3 1/4 inches. The cork base tapers a little and that's the only way it fits into our cup holders. I was disappointed with that but thought I could live with it. The final straw and the reason I just sat down to write this review is that as you can see in the picture the cork bottom came loose from one of the cups this afternoon. I don't know how it happened because we were careful with them, didn't drop them etc. But yes, it's disabled and I can't even figure out where it went, otherwise I might put it back. I'm really disappointed because I've never spent that much on mugs. I definitely hoped they would be worth the money! UPDATE: A day or two after writing this review, the cork came loose from the second cup and the lid on one of them started not staying fully closed when put back in place. I should also add that we hand wash them as we don't have a dishwasher so they definitely haven't been abused. I initiated a return and ordered a replacement hoping it was just a bad set or something. When they arrived here on Saturday, however, I decided to send them back because the lids smelled strongly of chemicals and one lid didn't stay completely closed.
