Best headphones/earbuds yet (for me)

# Best in-ear/ear-ear headphones I've found Like many people, I've been fishing in cheap waters for a long time, and no wonder they shit are: Even the headphones that came with my phone suck. When I was trying to "get up" a few years ago, I bought high-end Shure IEM headphones and the downside was huge: none of the ear adapters stayed in my ear, neither of them were comfortable - and *wired* sound on my clothes were enough to drown out what I was trying to hear. They were (and are) useless. I settled on a "fix" for regular Skullcandy headphones and cones. Skullcandies are good and not very expensive, but they're easy to break, easy to lose, and expensive to replace. Destroying my last set of candies I decided I'd had enough, went to the store to buy something better and found these Sony buds. I found it easy to fit in my ear, the sound isolation was great right out of the box (a sign of a great seal) and I quickly got lost in the music. The soundstage is clear but not "spacious", and it was easy to hear any instrument (not an orchestra). The bass is well defined and not overwhelming. Mids are clear and crisp, highs are crisp and powerful. Music used for this included Talking Heads, Black Panther (both CDs), Hamilton, King Crimson and more. Best of all, I quickly forgot I had them: these headphones in no way reminded me I had anything in my ears. They are light, fit well and make me forget. This is a first for me: although I've spent up to $200 on other sets, every other earbud/IEM made it impossible to forget. It was comfortable the first time, and not just for a short time: I've worn them for several hours each on a number of occasions, and they've stayed comfortable, at the end of the day my ears didn't hurt from removing and replacing them. I didn't have the fatigue that I associate with "canned sound" even after a whole day of continuous use. Cord: It's not as long as some complaints would suggest, and it's not flat. It gets tangled but is easier to untangle than other cords. There is some noise from the cable's movement, but it's easily drowned out by the music at very modest levels. Bass: I'm not a bass freak, so I'm relieved to report that the bass is clean and crisp, not punchy. up, but definitely a presence. Do not be afraid. Bottom line, I'm as happy as I could have hoped to be. Durability is the only open question. Bravo Sony - money well spent!
