Review on Woodstock W1100 πŸ› οΈ Slickplane: A Top-Notch Woodworking Companion by David Robinson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The smoothness is really good for multi tools

I do a lot of projects with planed, jointed and/or sawn wood. All these operations end up with a piece of wood with sharp edges that needs to be cleaned. A rounded chisel will do, but takes a long time to set up. It can also be difficult with smaller pieces. While the Slickplane requires a lot of tweaking when you first get your hands on it, it pays off with the time invested and the right setup. I bought this pup 5 years ago and haven't changed the settings since. Rounding the edge is so quick I don't even consider it a step in the project. Zip, zap, done. Literally seconds. It's such a pleasure to use a tool that has a single purpose and does it so well. My Slickplane has a special place in this precious space on my desktop. Application Tip: If you find the planer gouging your edge, make sure you're pressing in the direction of the rising grain, not the direction of the dip.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Mostly good but...
