Review on CBK Regulator Rectifier 1994 2014 27739 G01 by Jerry Olson

Color coded cables, you can't go wrong.

My Yamaha golf cart overcharged the battery and boiled the water. I tried replacing the voltage regulator with a Yamaha plug-in replacement. The problem was that the Yamaha style voltage regulator is not color coded on the plug and since this golf cart has had multiple owners I had no way of knowing if the wires in the plug that connects to the voltage regulator have moved. After trying two new Yamaha style voltage regulators to no avail, the fuses simply blew. I bought this type of voltage regulator that works on other brands of golf carts. Colored wires come out so I matched the colors of the wires and my charger started working. With the engine running the voltage jumped to 14 volts as expected rather than 18-19 volts as before. It wasn't a Yamaha type ESC that was the problem, but I didn't want to keep buying new ones at the risk of burning them out due to questionable wiring. All the schematics I found for the Yamaha G9 showed the location of the wires in the connector, but I've had no luck. I never knew if it was my wiring or a bad new voltage regulator.
