LOVE that I have manual control over the settings. I LOVE that the collar vibrates to remind the dog not to bark so he has control to avoid getting hit. I have used this collar on three dogs: two GSDs and a golden retriever. Extremely effective on both GSDs, not very effective on Golden. About our GSD: Our trainer recommended this collar specifically to reduce reactivity and it worked very well. She barked madly when she met other dogs or saw them from the car. By using only the Level 1 setting for 1 day, she changed her behavior and is now unresponsive to other dogs even when she is not wearing a collar! I admit it was a little heartbreaking to see her surprise when the collar first hit her, but after that she learned to avoid the shock very quickly. About the customer's GSD: We had an issue with him getting a bit aggressive with our younger dog, a bit mischievous, so with the customer's permission we tried this collar on him. He needed a higher value (4) to change his behavior, but it worked. He really enjoys being a working dog so he needs to be able to bark occasionally. Over time, he calculated the minimum amount of time he had to wait so he could bark between vibrations and avoid getting hit. This is why I love German Shepherds so much, they are so smart! - About the client's Golden Retriever: He barked very loudly when he left us. I hoped that putting a collar around him would calm him down more quickly, but he kept barking despite being hit. Also at the highest level! I've been trying this for about a day and it still hasn't changed its behavior. We also tried using the PetSafe No Bark collar on him but it was even less effective.
