I love this aquarium! I switched from the Marineland Portrait 5g to this tank which had a smaller footprint but higher vertical height. The Evo has the same capacity but the tank appears to be much larger than the Portrait. The long, narrow profile gives my fish a lot more room to jump and be happy. There is also more floor space to lay out the living stones and create a cool landscape. The standard pump is of high quality but it was decided to use it in a water circulation tank. I place it opposite the return line and it creates an amazing flow. Even better, it's a lot less intrusive and flashy than the Power Head, and it was practically free! As a return pump I used an Aquatop Np302 and a hose from Portrait. The aquatop sits sideways under the media tank (the sponge media holder doesn't quite sit on the shelf, but that's not a problem), and the hose runs under the separator to the outlet. Thus, my large 50W tetra heater fits easily into the rear pump compartment. Originally I wanted to get the Aqueon 600, but it's a bit more expensive than the other small pumps and I would also have to get a new heater because the combination of pump and heater at the back didn't match. filter sponge. I had some silicone left over from plugging the two holes in the back and some thin plexiglass and I made the basket in the aquarium which was pretty easy but I'll have to see how well it works. I'm still waiting for the silicone to set. I have no experience with high end bulbs as I've only used the standard bulb in portrait mode, but I will use the standard Evo bulb until I need something more powerful. It's bright enough and penetrates to the bottom, illuminating every nook and cranny. I plan to use a lot of invertebrates and soft animals so I may never need to upgrade. unless I need programmable and fancy effects like the Current USA Orbit Marine Aquarium, 18 LED light. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this aquarium. bye
