Absolutely not waterproof. Be careful

I bought these boots for shoveling snow and walking in the rain because of the "waterproof" claim. I also wanted to use them for a light walk in the woods. Advantages. Great fit, comfortable, very supportive, light weight, great grip, good looking. minuses. Absolutely not waterproof. I took my first walk in the rain with them after using them 4 or 5 times to brush some snow and when I got home my toes were wet. I thought water leaked somewhere. Remember that they are mostly new and "waterproof". I went for another walk in light rain and the same thing happened. wet socks. Then I realized they lick where they bend when you take a step. A leak on the left and right side of each boot. Terrible. I suspect that the "waterproofing" they use is probably a thin Chinese membrane that can't make too many bends before it punctures. Not like Gore-Tex or similar material. I will still use them for DRY hikes but the rainy weather days are behind them. By the way, I only weigh 125 pounds and am very light with all my stuff. I would not recommend Columbia shoes to anyone.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Good but not great
