It's like opening an umbrella that's a window shade for your car. That's a brilliant idea! My sister has circles that you unfold and then laboriously fold like a taco and then bend in to pull the strap. Annoyingly difficult to do. You just open this little guy like an umbrella and fold it like an umbrella. Secure it with velcro straps and tuck it under the seat. I bought a small one for my small hatchback size car and it's a bit wider but works great. Keeps my car about 10-20 degrees cooler than when I'm not using it. I love this thing!
