Loud fan noise develops after 9 months

This is a fairly well made lamp with a nice warm color temperature as advertised. It has a built in fan to cool the electronics, which was pretty quiet at first. After about 9 months of daily use (10 hours a day), the fan became an order of magnitude louder to the point that it was unbearable at close range. There doesn't seem to be a way to open the case without cracking it to spill a drop of oil on the fan.
