The thread that this antenna attaches to is plastic. Most of these antennas have metal filaments, which are high surface area electrical connections. The reduced surface area of the electrical connection caused the connection to become so hot during the first 20 minutes of use that it was uncomfortable to touch. I immediately disconnected the device on which it was installed and ordered a device with a metal connector.
