Review on High-Performance Outdoor Speakers: Polk Audio Atrium 5 with Deep Bass (Pair, White), Weatherproof Design, Enhanced Sound Coverage, Easy Speed-Lock Mounting System by Abbie Garcia

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Atrium 5. One year old, hubcaps rusted, speakers flooded with water. Helpdesk has been replaced.

Negative side. my speakers filled with water in a partially unprotected area. The speakers stopped working and when I tried to strip a new set of wires the caps wouldn't come off. Completely stuck. On the bright side. Polk did a great job with customer service and sent out a new pair but I really hope I don't get into the scenario of returning them every year, they couldn't answer what was different from the new pair they are sending. I'm going to use gold plated banana plugs and push them through the bottom and use the knockout plates on the lids. To work you need 90 degrees. Then I will use tape or other shrink tubing to cover these connectors. Another user recommended closing the packs in the off-season/winter, which I will do to extend the lifespan. I can also drill holes in the bottom for drainage holes. I'm not sure yet and I feel like I should, but if it releases the water it might extend the lifespan. I had lasted the previous pair of speakers for 10 years with no problems. Cheaper brand and didn't sound as good but they lasted a long time.

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Disappears
