I've heard in various places that such a thin tip doesn't transfer enough heat to where you are.
Just what I needed for SMT soldering. I've heard from various sources that such a thin tip doesn't transfer enough heat to the soldering area. I'm not sure what irons these people are using or what environment they are in, but this worked great on my FX-888D.
