I received the item and opened the box and the first thing I see is the bungee cord which helped keep the case closed when the zip was not used. It didn't really inspire me as a rangefinder. In the box, the range finder was packed in a case, a warranty card, a cleaning cloth, a battery, an instruction manual and a TÜV card (ha). The range finder seems to be of good quality and not cheap. Lies comfortably in the hand. The included case looks like it will protect the rangefinder well and it has TN Orange (Go VOLS) accents. Insert the battery and look through the viewfinder. I had to adjust the focus but the glass is clear and the focus is sharp both with and without glasses. I took a tape measure and measured the distance from the fluorescent light to be 4.5 yards, turned on the range finder and set it to yards. and shot the lamp. She climbed 4.4 meters and kept up, I have to say I was impressed. Shot again and he was 4.4 yards away. I calculated the charm 3 times, well, this time it turned out to be 3.9, so the difference is 0.5. Waited about 30 seconds and fired again and he said 4.4 yards. I think I'd better stick to 1 or 2 shots and move on. Then I used a tape measure and measured 20 feet in my hallway and it was accurate. I picked a stop sign across the street and got to 48 yards and just assumed that was the right distance. Then I decided to try scan mode. Went to my backyard and my neighbor has a large barrel grate with small chimneys (black) on it. pointed to the left chimney and started scanning to the right, as soon as I approached the chimney it immediately vibrated. and gave me a reach. The figures he gave appear to be accurate if one assumes simply. I'll probably go out later in the week and measure a few spots in the garden, put a metal mop handle in the distance and see what I get, but for now I'll say it's good to go. I want to test at least 100 yards. I'm hoping to get to the driving range this weekend and do some more measuring. I haven't tested the speed function and I don't need it either. I started giving this review 3 stars because the case was broken right out of the box, but I didn't think it would be an honest review of the device so I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the cable was broken was. Not sure I'll take the time to get a replacement case as the zippers on the case are strong and sturdy so I can just cut the cord or find a way to reattach it. If this was a $300+ device I would ask for a new case just because of the price. So far no complaints other than a broken cable.
