I love the kitchen item and this is my new favorite. An assembly is not required. I just added water, plugged in and turned on. Within the first minute, bubbles began to rise. It gets very hot, very quickly, and I love that it turns itself off when it reaches max temperature. I use it to make tea and oatmeal in the morning. I've also used it to add boiling water to the mop water for a very good clean. I've been looking for more ways to use boiling water so I can use it more often.
