Tips for the faint of heart

I ran into numerous problems, here's what I did: BSOD: Blue Screen. I installed the card on my computer and installed the drivers (ASMedia) from Startech.com. Only rebooted to find everything was corrupted. I couldn't boot Windows anymore. Deleted the card and still couldn't boot. Had to reinstall windows from my backup partition. Solution: Run the ASMedia driver installation as an administrator. When I restored everything and started, I realized what else do I have to lose at this stage? I read the README file in the drivers folder and the windows installation pdf to find out that I need to install this as administrator. Reinstalled and no BSOD. The card is not recognized in Device Manager / Windows 10: This is your UEFI BIOS security protection. After disabling my bios protection (I have a Dell Optiplex) it allows the PCI cards to boot/detect as drives. If you have other problems, read other reviews. UPDATE: Looks like I've overtaken myself. After extremely frustrating hours and hours of testing and research, this just won't work. The tips above gave me read-only access. The card ran under MS Sata drivers and never showed up as "Storage Controller" or "SCSI Controller". Ultimately, I believe it boils down to the fact that if you're running a UEFI BIOS on a 7th gen Intel or newer, it won't work unless you want to upgrade to a legacy BIOS with MBR instead Perform UEFI and GPT. I haven't tested this, but it's the last option and requires a complete overhaul of my entire setup.

Pros
  • PCI-e Dual eSATA
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
