Right Idea, Wrong Diameter
The inner ring that actually cuts the kernels off the cob is oversized by about 1/16 inch in diameter (at least for candy corn here at MD). ). The inner ring is notched so I was able to curl it up a bit to get the cut closer to the piston. After pulling a few ears through, I had to curl it again to make it tighter.
