I have not used these shoes for hiking just walking. I recently put them on and spent about six hours exploring Christmas displays in the constant cold rain. My feet stayed warm and dry. The shoes were comfortable and light. My usual shoe size is 12W. I bought these 12.5w running shoes because 12 felt too tight. An additional advantage of this model was the ability to purchase a half size. Many other brands seem to skip half sizes beyond a 12. I probably didn't need another pair of outdoor shoes, but this shoe was a very worthwhile purchase.
