I installed these bonnet struts on my 1998 BMW 528i and they are shorter than the factory struts which prevents the bonnet from opening to the maximum height. Once the hood is up these shock absorbers will hold it BUT you still have to help it open. I repeat they will hold the hood, but you have to help him hold the hood open. I wouldn't call them premium, but rather an inferior replacement.
