When used in this way, many external environments quickly negate much of the low-frequency output. Ambient noise is unwanted noise that competes with the signal from your headphones. Despite the driver's close proximity to your ear, low frequencies can still be severely reduced in volume or have their presence washed out entirely. This over-the-top bass does an excellent job of maintaining overall tonal balance. The overall result is quite impressive. I see no need for active noise cancellation. They are notable for their isolation during playback. All that, plus a 20-hour battery life, and you're ready for some righteous fun. If you arrive by train or bus. You need these puppies.
