My size tends to run large on most if not all orders, regardless of retailer or type of clothing ie. Jackets, pants, shirts etc. I'm 5ft 8in, 165lbs and ordered a small, they are great for all categories: waist, length, hips seems to be an item listed in some reviews. I was wearing Levi 505 jeans underneath and the strap was at the 3rd notch from the end of the strap (there are 6 notches). I can put it on the 4th for a tighter fit (not too tight and also comfortable for me) if I choose. In the thigh area I can easily put my hand in that area so not too tight on me, my hips appear to be around 21 inches (as far as I can measure this is probably a sliding scale for most people?) Worn on a Harley Bike Ultra and they were very comfortable. The length is quite long just standing in it, but on a bike with my legs bent they're where I like them to be and should help cover the top of my shoe when I've gotten caught in the rain that I do Haven't tried wearing them with my new riding boots because they haven't arrived yet. That suggests they're supposed to fit snugly in my 10" boots when they snap the latches on the bottom (I'll find out in a day or two). However, for me, not having 1 or 2 of them snapped is no problem. My inseam (as I measured it) is about 30-31 inches. I usually wear them for about 1-2 hours. I ride at 60-65 degrees. I am very happy with this purchase, I have looked at many different chaps and when I put them on I found that this seems excellent value for money compared to others. there. I edited this as I said I ordered the large when in fact I ordered the small which fits me so well. Another edit. Received my new 10" tall riding boots. Harley Axel motorcycle boots, good size boots and no problem. Fasten latches. It actually makes things easier because the material flexes less so the one piece boot reinforces the snapping action if that makes sense to anyone.I can't be happier with these chaps.The temps have been in the 60's, most rides have been 100+ miles and they were very comfortable to wear and looked great.
