This is almost a must have for the owner of one of the laptops it was made for, otherwise they feel terribly fragile. It adds just enough material to make the computer feel solid while adding little to no weight. It appears to be made of high quality plastic and has a ventilated bottom, although how it will handle wear and tear is not yet known. The bottom is slightly raised where there are vents on this model, indicating a good level of detail. Parts snap and don't move. I had an issue where one of the hooks cut into a groove in my monitor and started splitting the monitor case, but that was more of user error and didn't cause any damage. The legs are elevated and offer excellent traction. It doesn't offer drop protection or anything like that (so a shatterproof case is a moot point), but it will definitely keep your PC pristine if you ever decide to resell it. There are two legs that you can lower. also raise the keyboard, which is a nice feature. The leg locking mechanism is a bit awkward and doesn't seem like it would stand up to too much abuse, but after some stress testing those fears seem unfounded. The legs would get better with the update, but that's hardly a reason to shoot a star. I bought a black cover that fits my model perfectly. The waves and light texture are smooth to the touch and easy to grab.
