Review on EAGLE WiFi Smart Internet Router by Robert Long

I ordered this extension to replace my old one, but I'll end up trying it somewhere other than my main router. So far the range of functions is good and the signal is strong. there are some things missing. While you should be able to set this up using the password-enabled computer's web browser, the web interface never recognized the password by default. I had to download the app and register for a dlink account before using the app to attempt setup. The next problem I encountered was scanning the QR code needed for the app. It took a while though I tried both the ones in the manual and the ones on the bottom of the router. It always seems to be an issue as the focus cannot be controlled in the settings apps. True, DLINK is to blame, but they even have the main direction. After going through the app setup to changing the admin password after expanding my network, the app stopped connecting to the device. so I had to switch to the web interface after sniffing out the new IP address. After logging in, he made me wait for him to download and install the new firmware since the automatic install option was enabled. After a reboot it did the same right after logging in. I was finally able to change the settings after the second update since it was finally updated. After using the menu system, it's still much slower to refresh and respond to input than even my 5 year old router. At least it works in Firefox, which has been a difficult problem for DLINK devices in the past. After all page updates, you must keep the configuration on the same page. which is pretty standard on most routers. Unfortunately, each save can take anywhere from 15 seconds to change the NTP server and over a minute for a full reboot to change the automatic firmware update setting. Once configured, you can also change the extender mode from WiFi-only to wired. or you can put the device in bridge or router mode. There doesn't seem to be a Media Hub mode that would be an easy addition and probably more effective in some situations. This device is dual band and supports the latest 802.11AX standard for WiFi6 but not WiFi6E. This allows you to connect faster to devices that support it. Besides the old WPA2 encryption, it also has WPA3 mode and WPA3/WPA2 combo mode. Overall, this device works quickly as an extension cord or router. The only flaws I've noticed so far are in the control interface; Although I have yet to test its stability on an unstable connection. If you have a stable connection and can work with a slow, clunky interface where you don't change settings often, this is a great deal at around $65. I'd give it four stars for its performance and signal stability, but I'm deducting one star for the unreliable setup and clunky interface. As always, your mileage and preferences may vary.
