I don't particularly enjoy buying audio products online. Unfortunately, my ability to try out the speakers in the store is very limited. I trust these speakers and while they are very, very good for the price, they just fell short of my expectations. The construction and workmanship of the loudspeakers are striking. They are durable, have a perfect color and look great on almost all types of furniture. The available connection options are also quite good. The built-in phono stage, while not perfect, is very useful. I was planning on using them with Chromecast audio over optical and they certainly can do it. The most important thing, however, is the sound quality. The middle is nice and clear. The vocals sound great and you can hear every little detail in the music. Even low bitrate files sound better on it. The bass, while not very good overall, is pretty good for its size. However, if you need a proper base, like any other set of bookshelf speakers, you need a subwoofer. My only complaint is with the high notes. They don't sound bad per se, but they're just plain wrong. You sound too rough. Distortion is a small problem, but not too big. I think most people would be very happy with the speakers but they just don't work for me and I can't justify paying that much money for a set of speakers I need. I'm not happy I really only have one complaint and that's the remote control. I have to point the remote directly at the sensor almost every time, which is really annoying because I'm not directly in front of the speakers all the time. Sometimes I'm lying in bed and have to get up to use the remote control.
