I love the size of this mat. I had no idea how big it would be before I ordered it. My daughter is interested and makes serious eye contact with this octopus, but I haven't convinced her to spend time lying on her tummy yet. She will lie on her back and look, or if I put her on her stomach she will use it as a waterbed and fall asleep! One day lying on her stomach will come in handy, but for now she still likes it. It definitely makes tummy time more difficult due to the instability of the water and seems to engage the core a bit more. I wouldn't recommend introducing this tummy time, but once your child is comfortable on solid ground, this is a fun and appropriate next step. (Bonus: It hasn't leaked since I refilled it a month ago, even when I vacuum it up).
