Review on πŸ—‘οΈ Waste King L-111 Garbage Disposal Recycling Unit with Built-in Power Cord, 1/3 Horsepower by Clayton Morris

Revainrating 3 out of 5

An ugly flange (the metal ring at the bottom of the sink) requires extra expense and effort!

It arrived quickly, was easy to install and seems to work well. However, as you can see from the photos, we have two problems with the flange (the metal ring that sits at the bottom of the sink) that made us give it only 3 stars: First, it is positioned higher than our previous one. Flange due to the underlying rubber gasket. This results in some water remaining at the bottom of the sink instead of being completely drained as was the case with our insinkerator drain/flange previously. Each time we run the water, a shallow pool of about three inches stays around the flange in the sink. (Sorry the photos don't show this as he wasn't pouring water on that side of the sink when they were taken.) Second, the shiny chrome flange is much wider than the standard flange on the other side of the sink. Shell and the words "WASTE KING" embossed in large letters on both halves of the circle. (See photos) I don't know about other parts of the country, but here in Seattle it's considered an eyesore and probably needs replacing, if not now then at least before resale. For this reason we will order a separate flange. The reviews for the Waste King Satin Nickel Flange aren't great as most people find that the paint peels off, so we finally found another brand that works with this disposer. This disposal is NOT universal and will not work with most other parts. As it turns out, the flange part costs $70, more than we paid for the entire disposal, which not only makes this a lot more time consuming (we have to remove and reinstall it to install the new flange), but also significantly more expensive than if we had ordered a different brand. Too bad we wouldn't have known all this before we made a choice.
