Review on Woolrich Hudson Bay 6 Point Blanket, Natural with Multi Stripes - 90 by 100-Inch by Misty Myers

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great blanket but usually overpriced

[UPDATE 04/15/15: Winter is over and this blanket has lost a star due to regular wear and small bits of red wool fibers falling out. along the edges. Initially I was concerned that those edges would not be sheathed and now I see that those concerns were valid. Despite this shortcoming, I still like my duvet, but would not buy it again because of this issue. For the price we should get a more durable quality than this. I've found much fluffier brushed edge rugs that are cheaper and don't turn out as much. The only difference is that they can be a bit thinner (almost no difference). But since they are so expensive, even at the discounted price I bought mine for, I'd rather buy the other two brands. I'm hoping Hudson's Bay brings back swept edges or lowers prices, and until then I'll be buying wool blankets elsewhere. . I have no experience with Hudson's Bay once upon a time blankets so I honestly can't tell how they were then compared to now. But I dared. At over $437 it was too much to bid on, but at $280 for one of the colors it was reasonably priced. Will I pay full price? No way - these blankets are too expensive for the name. However, they are not as thin as I expected. After giving the duvet a few days to sit and use it a little, you'll find the wool "blooming" and becoming thicker and more comfortable. So wait a few days before sending it back, this blanket might surprise you. I used this duvet in late summer (pacific northwest) and surprisingly it didn't get too hot. Now in autumn it has become much hotter. What people are saying about temperature-regulating wool is absolutely true, strange as it may sound. We experienced that first hand. My husband tends to sweat when he gets too hot at night, but this duvet, even with flannel sheets, doesn't sweat with it. Wool breathes very well this way. Another issue I had with this comforter was that the edges were not hemmed. So far this has not been a problem, the ceiling is not thin. However, I wouldn't pay full price for it either. Over the winter I plan to update my review to give a full picture of how this blanket has fared during the cold season (which is why we bought it). But so far I see that we even use it all year round. Bottom line for now: If you can get it at a reduced price, it's definitely worth the money, but give the wool time to "bloom" and fluff up. You will not regret it.
