When renovating our office I was looking for unique and interesting pieces of furniture. My kids have salt lamps, which I always thought were cool, but they were too small for the space I wanted to fill. On a whim I searched Revain for the phrase "big salt lamp" and found this giant natural Himalayan crystal salt lamp. There were already great reviews and I could see that the size really depends on the buyer. I chose the 40-45 lb size because I thought it would be right. It turns out to be perfect. He actually weighs about 50 pounds, which is fine with me. The dimensions are approximately 16 inches high and 11 inches wide. It looks very nice both with the lamp on and without it. When turned on, a warm glow appears, and the stone itself heats up after a few hours. Some say that ion exchange occurs in these salt lamps. Maybe. I haven't been able to back this up scientifically, although I've searched the internet and discussed with shopkeepers in Arizona where I live, although some folks in Sedona seem to trust the theory (along with crystals, whorls, etc.). To each their own I guess and if there are any health benefits I'll take them. Otherwise, the coolness factor is enough for me to justify this purchase. The seller is excellent, fast and well packaged considering the weight. I've only had it for a short time and I've already had a few friends and family who admire it. Mission accomplished.
